Questions about purchasing DMM :
· I've just purchased DMM but I never got
my serial number via Email.
What now?
Step 1. First of all, please wait at least a couple of minutes before jumping into conclusions. Not everything happens within seconds, even in this modern Internet-age :)
After waiting at least 2 long minutes you go to Step 2 and check the spamfilter.
If you have a spamfilter installed (or your webmail such as @hotmail.com, @yahoo.com, etc) you might want to check there first. Most likely you will find the Email there...
If you've double-checked the spamfilter and still cannot find it you may go to Step 3.
Check the confirmation mail sent by Paypal and make sure that the status
of the transaction is Cleared. As long as the status is something else than Cleared you will NOT recieve any serial number. Please note that sometimes it can
take Paypal up to 4 days to clear the transaction.
If you've double-checked the spamfilter and made sure that the Paypal transaction is cleared you may move on to Step 4.

· I've lost/misplaced my serial number.
· Why is my serial number invalid?
Sometimes the serial number contains the letter and figures that are confusing similar (ex. letter I and number 1, letter O and number 0, etc.).
Normally you can solve this by trying different combinations or preferably copy and paste the serial number from the activation mail.

· I currently have the demo of
DMM installed. How do I activate to a
full version?
First, purchase
a serial number. Once you receive your confirmation
e-mail with your serial number, start DMM and you'll see the Web View. Enter your serial number in Serial No textfield and click on the Activate button.That's it!
If you do not see the Web View or if the Web View states that you're offline. Please make sure that you are connected to the Internet and that no firewalls are blocking DMM's access to the Internet.

I run DMM it states that it is a free trial version. Didn't I already purchase?
You sure did. Now, all you need to do is activate your DMM. On the back of the
CD envelope (the one that you threw away), you should see a
Serial Number.
Use that serial number and activate the software as described in the question above, but skip the part about purchasing a serial number. As easy as that ;)

Questions about the Free Trial:
· How does the free trial work?
First of all, you do NOT need a serial number to use the free trial.
To use DMM;
- start DMM
- click on the Guitar-icon on the Toolbar
- click on Load
- choose your favourite song
- click on Analyze
- DONE!!!

· What are the limitations in the free trial?
Limitation:
- Only analyzes the first 30 seconds
- Unable to print
- Unable to save
- Not all chords are displayed in the Chord Dialog
All these limitations are of course instantly removed once you purchase DMM!

Questions about Technical Stuff :
· I'm trying to load a WMA-file but I keep getting the "File format not supported" message. Doesn't DMM support WMA?
Yes, but normally you must have Windows Media Player 9 or higher installed.
WMA is not supported on Windows 98 and Windows NT.
If you have installed Windows Media Player 9 or higher and it still doesn't play wma-files.
Try to download and install the plugin WMFDIST from Microsoft. You can download WMFDIST here...
You may also try to download and install NCT Audio Studio here. Sometimes this component is needed
in order to be able to play WMA files.
Now that you've made sure that you're not using Windows 98 or Windows NT and you've installed WMFDIST and NCT Audio Studio and it STILL does'nt work...we have to drop the bomb...
You are probably trying to load a DRM-protected (Digital Rights Management) WMA-file. Unfortunately DMM does'nt support DRM right now... ;-(

· Why cannot I load music from a CD?
If you have more than one CD-ROM installed on your computer,
make sure that you're browsing to the correct CD-ROM.
We've also noticed that sometimes only one CD-ROM works, please try both.

· Why is it silent when I press play?
Make sure that your speakers are turned on,
your computers volume is not muted and you can play the
same file thru another software (such as Windows Media Player, Winamp, etc.).
If you have more than one soundcard installed, please try switching
between them in the Settings dialog.
Also, please make sure that you have the latest version of DirectX installed.

· Why does the Web View state that offline even though I'm connected to the Internet?
Normally this is due to another software is blocking DMM and not allowing DMM to connect to the Internet.
If you have a firewall (Windows firewall included), anti-adware, anti-spyware or similar installed, please make sure that DMM is
allowed to connect to Internet

· Why do DMM connect to the Internet?
DMM connects to Internet due to mainly two reasons;
firstly, to enable you to easily register your DMM and quickly enjoy all features of the software and
secondly, to integrate dynamic information into the software and give you information about updates, future functions, communicate with other users, get tips and tricks, get online support, etc.
Please note that DMM doesn't collect ANY personal information about the You (or anyone else by that matter...).

· Error message: Can't create NCTAudioFile2 control.
Please try to reinstall DMM.
If you still get the same error after installing DMM, try to download and install NCT Audio Studio here. NCT Audio Studio is a third party component which takes cares of all CD reading that we utililies in DMM. |
· The playback stops or is chopped up when playing a song
If you have a computer that does'nt live up the requirements of 400 MHz processor and/or at least Windows 98 Second Edition
there is not much to do other than grab your credit card and get a taste of the 21'st century...;-). Buy a new computer!
If you're living in the 21'st century and even have more than one sound card. Please try switching between the sounds cards in the Settings Dialog.

· Does DMM work on Apple and Mac OS?
NO, unfortunately DMM is only available on the Windows OS ...

Questions about Music Transcription:
· DMM doesn't show the correct chords
DMMs accuracy on the transcription is greatly depended on music genre and complexity.
The focus on the transcription is currently on Pop & Rock and therefore can the result be quite
confusing when analyzing more complex music such as Funk, Jazz, Classical, Hip Hop, Electro, etc.
Normally you can expect a accuracy of 80-95% correctness on Pop & Rock.

· Why use DMM to transcribe music?
Often, it's because you want to play a tune but you don't have the chords and tabs for it, you only have a recording. Of course you might start by looking for the chords but if you can't find them what are you going to do? Also, even if you can find the chords they will often be a disappointment when compared to the version you've been listening to and enjoying. Good players will usually make more out of a piece than the standard published chords will show, so you will have to listen to the recording to find out what they're doing. I'm talking about reharmonisation, embellishing chords, added figures and riffs, good bass-line movement, voice leading, etc.
There quite a number of professional transcribers around. For instance, if you buy the sheet music for a popular song then this music will often have been transcribed from the record by a professional who works for the publisher.
Instead of pulling our hair off trying to transcribe the songs yourself, spending hours and hours searching for chords or running to the local music shop buying expensive sheets music, you just let DMM do all the dirty work for you.
Letting you just do the fun part... playing to your favourite songs!

· When will guitar tabs be added?
I really wished that transcribing guitar tabs was a piece of a cake. In that case we would have complete guitar tabs already incorporated in DMM.
Unfortunately is the reality something completly different and we hope that we will see guitar tabs in DMM on solos, riffs and intros in near future.
But believe me... we will have guitar tabs in DMM sooner or later!!!
